Cephalexin 500 mg is an oral suspension for intramuscular or intravenous use. This suspension contains Cephalexin 500 mg in an aqueous solution containing 0.25% benzyl alcohol, 30% propylene glycol, and 0.165% sodium chloride, with preservative benzalkonium chloride 0.005%. It’s available in orange-flavored syrup with no added sweeteners or flavors.
Cephalexin 500 mg is available as 500 mg tablets.
How to store Cephalexin 500 mg:-
Always store medicines in a room where the temperature stays below 25 degrees Celsius (77 Fahrenheit). Store it at least 15 degrees Celsius (59 Fahrenheit) and out of direct sunlight. Keep the medicine in its original container and keep the container tightly closed. Throw away any medicines that are out of date or no longer needed. Do not refrigerate or freeze the oral suspension for intramuscular use and do not freeze diluted solutions for intravenous infusion. Discard any unused portion after 14 days from the date of first use, even if there is more medicine left in the container.
Possible side effects of Cephalexin 500 mg:
It is not known if this medicine changes the way your skin or eyes react to sunlight. Do not use this medicine near a heat source such as a heater or radiator or with a hot water bottle. Do not take it while wearing loose clothing that could fall over and touch the medication, or where your skin might be exposed to direct sunlight. Avoid touching the solution when mixing it, which can cause dyes in the solution to change color. Do not wear thick goggles or sunglasses when handling the suspension for intramuscular use as it may stain your lenses.
Cephalexin 500 mg is a white and practically tasteless clear liquid with a slight odor. The solution contains 10 mg/mL of the drug in 150 mL of 7% propylene glycol, 30 mg/mL benzalkonium chloride, 5% benzyl alcohol, and 0.165 g/mL sodium chloride.
The oral suspension is a clear to slightly yellowy-white liquid with a syrupy sweet odor. The batch number is FZ-20160129 and it’s NDC 07812-3372-1 (also known as 12053-40). This medicine contains no coloring agents or preservatives.
